Help me decide on a large form 3D printer

Hello all. I asked this in Discord a week ago but I wanted to share some thoughts I had.

I am trying to decide on a large print bed printer. The wife gave me the go-ahead to get one since it is her birthday present to me. I want to poll the community for advice before buying. Here’s some of my requirements:

  1. be around 350 mm^3 or larger;
  2. Be enclosed;
  3. Be able to print engineering grade material;
  4. A multimaterial system would be nice but not a deal breaker

I would prefer not to have to build it myself (so no Vorons) but I am fine with some assembly if needed.

Thinking QIDI or Bambu, or Sovol… or something way more expensive?

I don’t have the budget for an industrial 3d printer…

Bambu’s one weakness here is that their build volume is just a bit too small. I lost a couple of jobs for my business since I didnt have the size for it and Bambu H2D/H2S would have been barely too small for that. Normally I would have gone with the Bambu option but that’s the realization I had. I’m open to all suggestions.

I would point you in the direction of the Sovol SV08. I would love to point you in the direction of Anycubic Kobra S1 Max, but haven’t got one yet to know for sure. I will say it exists though, and I have a Kobra 3 and Kobra 3 Max that run constantly for me, and I have no complaints.

I have the two Sovol SV08 and they works great. The only complain I have is you can get one with TACO bed problem but there are several ways to fix that. Otherwise it a really good printer. If you can wait, Sovol could be coming out with a multi tool changer soonish?

Also, take a look at the Sovol SV08 Max, it a 500mm cube printer if your looking for bigger, bigger?

I have on pre-order a Anycubic Kobra S1 Max but that will not ship for a while and last time I check they are not taking any more order for it at the moment (seems to be very popular)

If you want to build the printer from the ground up, there is the RatRig version 4.1 which can be order in 500mm cubic size too.
