Looking to purchase my first 3D printer to start making things for cosplay and explore what’s possible in general. I am located in a place where the printing of pew shaped objects is 100% legal and while I don’t see that changing at the local level anytime soon, I would like to get a setup that is future proof or at least resistant.
Are there any particular printers that do not have blocking technology or forced firmware updates and things of that nature?
I have heard good things about Prusa with it being open source. Does that prevent the problem entirely or is there other things I should be thinking about? I don’t mind spending $2k on something that I know will work for my needs but I would hate to drop that kind of money to in the end be left with a trinket generator.
