Discourse is running on a VPS with 8 cores and 16GB of memory. That is more than enough as far as I know, but we can expand it to whatever we need as we go!
8 Cores and 16GB ( nice given memory prices that are near gold prices
)
How much disk space?
Sorry I work in IT and we are currently migrating from VMware to Hyper-V so I just had to ask.
500GB, which won’t nearly be big enough, but we can just expand that as we go.
Hey DM me on Discord - I’m curious how that migration is going, I used to be a Hyper-V lead at Microsoft and am curious about the transitions
That is fun to know as I just finished building my first ever pc and installed it all inside a 3d printed case I found on Makerworld.
OH! Sick!
That is a pretty hefty server. It doesn’t sound like it but in the virtual world over sizing a server will kill performance. One of the hardest parts of my job use to be convincing customer that more is not always better. Good Luck!!
Is/will this set up as a RAID system? If RAID, what version would you think is best?
The “best” RAID type depends if your primary care is about performance or redundancy (backup(s)/not losing data)?
